Denmark Strengthens Focus on Green Supply Chains in South Asia

The Trade Council teams from the Embassy of Denmark in India and the Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh participated in the UN Global Compact’s seminar on ESG and sustainable supply chains in South Asia.

Anne Hougaard Jensen, Director of Green Diplomacy and KLIMA at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, outlined both the opportunities and challenges in the region. She emphasized Denmark’s commitment to deepening partnerships that support greener and more responsible value chains.

Denmark is actively collaborating with partners in India and Bangladesh to advance sustainable supply chains, with particular focus on water, energy, circular economy, and technology sectors. During the seminar, advisors and Danish companies working in the region shared perspectives on how to further strengthen cooperation between the Trade Council, UN Global Compact Network Denmark, and local stakeholders.

With the World Bank projecting FY27 growth of 6.3% for Bangladesh and 6.5% for India, South Asia’s economic outlook remains strong. Denmark reaffirmed its dedication to supporting a just and green transition in the region, enabling responsible business engagement in these rapidly growing markets.

Danish companies exploring opportunities in South Asia are encouraged to get in touch for further guidance as they navigate this dynamic landscape.
